My little Guenevere is FOUR! How did that happen so fast?! Just a few days after we bought our house she was three and just potty training! Now she is four and so much has happened in her precious life this year. She is growing up so fast. I was thinking about how much she a has changed this year…
The first couple years of her life I thought that Guenna would be our little Tom Boy, she was/is very active and athletic and wasn’t scared of anything! So far she has proven to be a bit more on the adventurous side than our two oldest boys, and definitely bold when it comes to meeting new people and having the guts to say something to people she doesn’t know. This past year she has surprised us all with learning how to read on her own with very little help, and a couple months ago she surprised us again with teaching herself how to write. I guess she just doesn’t have time to wait around for mom to have time to teach her! It’s been fun watching her learn and seeing all this self determination. She is so very excited about anything that has to do with school, learning, writing, reading, crafts, and cooking. She will go outside and play with the kids for awhile and after a few minutes I will see her letting herself back into the house, she goes over to the homeschool cabinet and gets out her paper and pencil and starts writing, drawing or coloring. She is a real girly girl which kind of surprises me when I think back to what a little monkey she was as a 1 year old! She was climbing out of her crib by the time she was 12 months old, and then today we were outside she yelled, “mom, look at me!” She was WAY too high up in a tree for a four year old, I calmly told her to climb down and she obeyed :) Parenting can be such a joy and sometimes a little bit frightful :) So she is academic but still has that adventurous side!
Guenna has challenged me in so many ways as a mother, called me to step it up and be a better listener. She doesn’t have much tolerance for being ignored (but then again neither do I!) She is not one to sit by and let things go. She’s a spunky and very smart little four year old, with deep emotions and is very much a little lady. At times I find myself asking the Lord for wisdom, how do I raise this little woman to be Yours?! She is just so precious and I don’t want to ruin her! You ever feel that way, mother? It’s such an incredible job being a mother, with all these little ones looking to you to guide them and show them the love of God.
So we celebrated this little precious girl on Monday, and I pray that she will always know how precious she is and what a gift she is to this family. My prayer for Guenna is that she will grow in wisdom daily and that she will love who God has made her to be, no matter what she looks like or what others look like, that she will know that her daddy loves her and that her Father in heaven is proud of his little lady.
Guenevere Grace, you are a beautiful, fun and amazing little girl. I’m so blessed to be your mama! Happy Birthday Guenna, I look forward to getting to know you better this year! I love you with all my heart!
Chris took Guenna on a little date to get dirt with him the morning of her birthday. He took this picture in papa’s truck. She looks pretty happy to be spending some alone time with her daddy. You have no idea how happy this picture makes me. I’m so very thankful that my little girl is in love with her daddy.
