It’s been a little while since I’ve updated on our progress on the house so I thought I would do another quick update while I have a few quiet moments. Things are moving along and we have until January 31st to close on the loan. We are very hopeful, although we know that it’s not a done deal until we’ve signed the contract, something could go wrong and we could end up not being able to purchase the house.
But…we are hopeful. And we believe that the Lord has brought us this far and will make a way for us to purchase this new home. All of the bids are in (we had to have a general contractor write up an estimate for all the work that needs to be done in order to make the house livable), complete new plumbing, new electrical, new stove installed, all new flooring, all new paint, insulation under the house needs repair, new deck/stairs to the back sliding glass door, two new exterior doors, all new appliances. So pretty much, when we are finished we will have a new house. As you can imagine, the house is not much to look at right now but we are not the first family that has looked at a worn-out house and thought, “there is tons of potential here!”
One obstacle, when the estimate was calculated it was a little more than what we were hoping for but we believe it is still doable, the question is, will the bank think so too? We are praying that the details will all work out. We have until the end of the month to get everything in order and then once we sign on the house we have tons of work ahead of us. That is why we will be living with Chris’ parents for a few weeks while we fix up the house. It would be hard to be moving out of our current home at the same time as trying to fix up a new home. So I’ve been busy packing, packing and more packing! The kids have been gracious but it is difficult at times trying to find the time and energy to pack, while taking care of five children, planning meals, trying to be a creative and attentive mother, and doing the laundry and cleaning :) Lord please give me grace to get through this month and more importantly that my children will still love me at the end of it all.
Prayer-that the Lord will give us favor with the bank. That we will be able to get all the paperwork done in time. That God will give us grace while we pack and that the Lord will give me wisdom in how to teach the children not to argue even when we are all in such tight quarters and so much is going on.
If anyone wants a day with the Burns kids, I’m sure it would do them some good :) Thank you all for your prayers and words of blessing and encouragement during these days! We really appreciate them!!
