More about the house

Wow this has been a busy week. Monday we went to meet with our buyer’s agent to sign the bid contract, tons of paperwork (thank you so much Rana for watching the kids!). Then we’ve had to do tons of stuff, call the water company and meet them out at the property to turn on the water (thanks mom for watching the kids and loaning me your car!), only to find out the plumbing is completely shot underneath the house so we wont be able to test any plumbing in the house because the house doesn’t have water, well, we just have to plan for the worst I guess and figure the plumbing cost into amount for the rehab, it could be worse. I’ve had to arrange for an inspector to come out and look at the property, try to find a good general contractor (still looking), resend our contract that was signed wrong, overnight documents to the seller, try to figure out what’s the deal with the power-is it on or not?! Get a cashier’s check for the earnest money on the bid….It’s been a busy week, all during the worst snow storm I’ve seen in a very long time!

Aidan asked me today, “mommy, on Christmas Eve are we going to buy a house?” I sure hope so, only not quite Christmas Eve, we will have to wait a few more weeks. I love Aidan’s faith though, he remembers to pray for someone to give us the money to buy the house, every time he prays. Okay, so it doesn’t quite work like that but he’s got the right idea :0 All the kids are excited about the house but I’m sure that he is the most excited. I think we are all feeling the need for a little more space, especially this week, we’ve all been indoors all week. Just imagine you, and five kids under five, in a room about 8′ x 6′. That has been us, we are all getting on each other’s nerves a bit. And now that we’ve started to think that maybe we will be able to live in a larger space, I think the grace for this small space is wearing thin.

So this Saturday we are meeting with the inspector and hopefully a contractor that we can trust. Here is what I’m praying for, I’m praying that inspection goes well and that there are not any huge problems with the property/house. About the contractor, I’m praying for us to find someone who is trustworthy, fair, and who has an optimistic attitude and can see our vision for the property. We don’t want to make expensive updates, we want to make it livable and affordable because we don’t plan to live in the mobile forever we plan to build a house not too far down the road. I know that it can be done and I’m praying that we will find someone who can see our vision for the house. Regarding the loan, I’m praying that we are able to get 5% interest for our loan. Some people think I’m asking for a lot but I figure why not ask? I know God knows what we need and I don’t think He’s brought us this far to turn back now, I believe that we will be able to buy this home but there are still several obstacles in our way. Life is full of obstacles, I believe that life’s obstacles are there not to discourage us but more to bring us closer to God and closer to one another. Father, please help me to keep my eyes on You during all of this craziness. Please help me to meet the needs of my family, my husband and my children and help me to never become discouraged. You are so good to us, and we put our future in Your hands, Your will be done Father. Thank you for this learning opportunity. We trust You Lord.

You may think that more space and your babies will spread out……well they will probably want their own room only to end up sleeping together, because they truly love being together!! You are an awesome momma and you will look back on this season and love that old small house!!! Merry Christmas Kelley
