You’re the Biggest

Boys on the rocks

As if I needed any “encouragement” at this season in my life. This morning Guenna noticed that Cait has a little nose, “you have a little nose Cait!” The kids began comparing nose sizes. Eamon, politely instructing his sister, stretched his arm out and pointed at mommy, “she has the biggest nose.” Though I wanted to protest, I had to laugh! I mean, it’s true, my nose IS the biggest in the house right now, but do you have to point it out?! Then Aidan mentioned that daddy’s is bigger than mommy’s, that made me feel a little better.

This conversation reminded me of a conversation between Aidan and I the other day. He had just finished a painting he had been working on and was excitedly showing me what all the marks were. “This is me, and I have my coat wrapped around my waist and those are the sleeves sticking out. This is all the colors…” Then I asked him what the long pink line with the circle at the top was.”  He responded, “oh, that’s you. Because you are big. Every time I draw a picture, you are the BIGGEST one…you ARE so  big mommy, you’re HUGE!”

Oh thank you son. I’m so glad you are so impressed with my hugeness. I’m not exactly sure how to go about telling the boys that they need not point out how large women are, or how big their nose or mouth are. And though I do need to explain it to them, it is nice to hear their innocent exclamations from time to time :) Eamon told me today, “You’re baby is getting really big mommy!” Now, that’s nice to hear, the baby, not necessarily the mommy ;)  And he is right, this baby is getting big, I’m quickly running out of space on my lap, running out of space in my stomach to eat very large portions, running out of space in my bladder! Six more weeks and I will get to hold my sweet little boy, and my body will go to work trying to get back to it’s “normal” size :)

That reminds me of when I was walking (lagging) behind Ethan a few weeks ago and he looked back at me and said “come on momma”….he turned forward again and then turned around to me again…sized me up and said “I mean, come on BIG momma” Derek and I really laughed at that because we thought…where did he hear that??? But I guess they don’t have to hear things to come up with what they perceive as ‘truth’.

Don’t kids just say the “sweetest” things! My oldest is 2 1/2, so we’re just starting to get some funny stuff. It’s so sweet because it’s so innocent.

Only 6 more weeks?! Oh how exciting! I will be praying for you that you will have the strength and energy you need to care for your little ones. I know those last few weeks seem so long, but oh how I love the anticipation, especially with a home birth!

    Take care!

Sis!! Oh my goodness! I can hardly stand the cuteness!! “You’re HUGE!!” I love how he just kept reiterating his point with more intense descriptors! What a boy! Oh, so look forward to watching my little boy grow! Well, actually I am enjoying it now. He’s making such cute little changes in his voice! I love it!
Well, I love you Big Mama! :-) That’s a cute story too. Oh, I wish I was gonna be there for your birth! That will be so awesome!! It just hit me that I don’t picture you in my mind as pregnant. Maybe it’s because I hardly see any pregnant pics! You better get some up there before you’re not big anymore! ;-) Love you!
