More new babies!

Lady is doing really well with her new babies, she seems to be a natural. I took all the babies and sat them on the ground and put Lady down there with them, with some food and water and a nice little nest area. They all seem to be very happy. Her little chicks seem to appreciate having a mama chicken, and I appreciate all her work at keeping the babies safe and warm without all the extra work of caring for them myself! Here they all are, four cute happy babies! The kids are in love! And this morning we were greeted with a lovely surprise, more new babies! Mama Chicken's three babies hatched as well! This picture was taken before I had brought them down below. If you click on the picture to enlarge it you will notice some long feathers sticking out of Mama Chicken's neck, those aren't hers, they belong to Gladys (one of our banties) She had decided that she should be in on the action as well and was setting underneath the mama, and on top of one of the chicks! Mama Chicken was much more patient with Gladys than I think I would have been! Here's a close-up of Mama Chicken's little babies, aren't they so cute?! I'm so proud of my little mamas! They are doing really well. I think Mama's only problem now is her older chick that you see in the picture above, she's not really careful with the chicks and they seem to want to hang out with her. Oh well, I'm sure it will all work out. I will get some pictures up later of them all down on the ground. It's so fun watching a mother hen with her chicks!
