We have a new baby in our house…

…or I guess I should say in our coop!
And here she is, isn’t she adorable! The black hen next to her, is her “mama chicken” although she didn’t come from one of Mama Chickens eggs because they are not fertile since we don’t have a rooster. My neighbor donated a few eggs and this sweet little chick hatched after 21 long days of setting on them, she was the only one who hatched. We made a little calendar to mark off the days, with Friday the 16th being the 21st day (it’s supposed to take 21 days to hatch them), and believe it or not, she hatched on the 16th! I was a little surprised to see her in there that morning, and very pleased! I tried to “help” the mama out a few times, but only seemed to make her upset so I just left them be and she brought her cute little chick down from the nest (which is about 4 feet high and they have to walk down narrow planks and over 5 inch boards to get down there, I have no idea how that tiny little chick did it but she did! We are all excited to watch this mama chicken with her own little chick, the only down side is that the chick will be wild because we wont be able to catch her, but oh well, it’s still lots of fun. It will be really fun to see what kind of chicken she ends up being, her daddy is a banty and I have no idea what her mama was so it should be interesting :)
Here’s another shot, better of Mama Chicken, it’s actually just the same picture as above, just zoomed out.

What a sweet little chick! Looks nothing like the purple fluffy thing in my dream! ;o) I’m sure Guenna will do her best to win her over. Isn’t it amazing how God takes care of his creatures? I was wondering too, how that little chick would get fed. The pictures are so cute.

How cute!! She sure doesn’t look anything like her “Mama”! It will be fun to see what kind of chicken she turns out to be! (Hope she turns out to be a “she”) Does she have fuzz on her feet? It kind of looks like she does, well, at least on her legs.
