Cait\’s big Announcement
December 5th, 2007 by Jenni
Well, I think Cait must have wished for teeth for Christmas, she got at least one of her wishes today, her very first tooth! She grabbed ahold of my finger this morning and I was very surprised to feel a tooth in there, she has not had an off moment the whole time she was pushing this little dandy through! Unlike her big brother Eamon who seemed to teeth for months on end! What a little sweetie :) No pictures, she is a little shy about showing her new little tooth, and the boys wanted to see it so bad. They and you nana\’s will just have to wait!
News about the chickens. I got the chicken yard finished and the gate hung, and we also made a sand pathway to the chicken coop as the ground is starting to get pretty muddy from all the rain, I think we may end up putting burlap bags on top though because the now we are just tracking sand instead of mud into the house :) The chickens are not getting along very well. Those two little birds hold their own pretty well, but Snoopy seems to be a little unrelentless, I am really hoping they will work all their differences out soon. I don\’t like worrying about those poor little birds, they are so cute and I don\’t want the other chickens to hurt them. I think there is enough space in the coop for them to get away from each other so hopefully they will all figure out their place and we can all be one happy family :) I took some pictures today but I need to get to bed. We have our homeschool co-op tomorrow. Goodnight!

Jenni, Our chickens would fight !! The two roosters were so bad we had to separate them. The hens will gang up on whomever is lower in class!! See we had the upper class, they slept on the top roosts and then we had the lower class, our sweet bantams who slept on the bottom rung. It was funny as our “big Butt” chickens died off out banties moved up until they reached the top of the roost!! All but one of our chickens have died so we now just let her have the run of the yard. It is a funny picture when she sleeps right next to our dog and cat. Our many visitors laugh when they see her cuddled up next to them!!
Love the video of your babies keep it coming!!
Jenni, My story from yesterday has a sad ending. On our way to church last night Elizabeth got our of the car to get the mail and found Barbara Anne, our last hen, in the raging ditch!! The flood waters were to much for her and she drowned. So the Ahearns had a sad night and a tragic ending for our unique Barbra Anne!!!! Enjoy your chickens for they do become part of the family!!!
Praying for you guys. Hoping you have not been flooded out with the latest rains…
I’m so sorry to hear about your chicken Kelley, what a sad story! We fared pretty well, no flooding here, thank you Lord! Hope everybody else is doing well there Kelley.
