The new chicks on the block!

Lady, Hilda and Milda

Here they are ladies and gentlemen. We got three new chicks tonight. Meet Lady, on the left, Hilda and Milda are twins. We are excited about having some companions for our little Snoopy. She seems a little unsure at this point, kind of like, "what are those things?!" I personally think Snoopy think she's a human so there might be just a touch of disappointment at that reality.

Guenna thought Snoopy should visit with her new sisters, so while we were all looking at the birds in their box, Guenna grabbed Snoopy and tried to throw her over the side of the box. I gently placed her in the box with the other chicks and she immediately flew out (I think she was a little offended that I would put her in a box with a bunch of chickens!) She flew to the edge of the box, right by Guenna's head and Guenna began to talk "chicken talk" to Snoopy. Tilting her head sideways and talking to her in a sweet nice voice while motioning to the other chickens. Like her talking nice to Snoopy would convince her that the other chickens are nice and they will be your friends.

Well, looks like we are going to have a reason for that huge chicken coop we built :) We still have to get it finished, before they poop all over our garage!

Too cute! Oy! I am hoping my son does’t see this post as he walks by and starts asking for some. We live in suburbia! :-)

They’ll make a lovely dinner some day!

Nicole! How can you even think that?!!! Don’t you know we don’t eat our friends and family members?!!

  4. Nanajudi:
    farmers do all the time.

Yes, but when there are only four… Actually, we did raise all our own meat: beef, pork, chicken, turkey, rabbits, fish, but the laying hens, which I hope these will turn out to be, don’t get eaten! Jen, maybe Snoopy wants to be an “only chicken” :) But she’ll have to learn to lay more than one egg a day if she wants to be an only! Ha!

By the way, Jen, did you notice I’m “On line” again from home?! Comcast finally came today!!
