Just thankful.
Tonight we were sitting eating dinner at DQ, enjoying a bunch of greasy french fries, burgers for mom and dad and hot dogs for the kids. I had just finished nursing Cait and she had given me an "I'm not finished" squeal. But I sat her up and burped her and she was fine. I looked up to see a young lady (probably in her early teens), walk through the door. She was obviously going through cancer treatment, no hair and not just bald, no hair at all. My heart felt such a pang of sadness, for her and her family. So young and going through such hard times. I wondered if she had good parents to love her though these hard times. Kids need loving parents, not perfect parents but compassionate. I looked back down and Cait and another emotion flooded my heart. Thankfulness. Here we are with four absolutely healthy babies, not because of our own doing, simply because they are just that, healthy. God's grace and protection. So I am thankful, to wake every morning to the struggles and challenges and joys of raising four little ones. They keep me running all day long, but they are wonderful children, and healthy. Thank you Father for giving us these beautiful babes!
Hi Burns Family
Off subject from your post…but I was wondering if you would like a couple of passes to Remlinger Farms in Marysville. The are coupons for two people to enjoy the fun at the Farm…what all you get to do with them I’m not exactly positive. But they are good through Labor Day. I was going to take some friends up there; however, finding time to go to Marysville for the day before I move is kind of hard!
If you’d like check out remlingerfarms.com and then email me your address and I’ll get them in the mail to you…. rachelannmac@hotmail.com
Blessings
Rachel
Well, on the subject of parents… Carol and I had Dad and Mom over tonight and they were asking about you Burns’. It was nice to pull up your site and links to pictures of your little one’s. They were glad to hear that you were doing well and saw that life was good to you with such happy faces abounding…
My youngest sister, Kristen, was diagnosed with a rare form of AML (acute myelogenous leukemia) almost six years ago at the age of 15…Your post served as a wonderful reminder that, but by God’s wonderful grace and protection, she would not never have survived. Thank you for helping us remember God’s many blessings in our lives! Every time we celebrate Jesse’s birthday (whose birth came very shortly after my sister’s heartbreaking diagnosis), I am reminded again of God’s wonderful care and compassion.
Lauren’s diagnosis with diabetes is another reminder to be thankful for healthy children! I was going to remind you that she is eleven, (remember she is just a few month’s older than Aariah?) but Susie had already brought that to your attention. For a moment I was thinking about another Susie and another Nathan, but that Nathan is only nine! :) I have always been thankful for the health of my children, in spite of too many visits to the ER for stitches, “road rashes”, concussions, and broken bones, etc., you were always in good health, and for that I was very grateful!!
