i have been getting food from azure since the mid 80's..
i usually order enough by myself every few months.. most co-op have a member charge and/or charge a percentage, so i do not use them, plus mixing my order with others took a lot of time to sort out. if my order is less then the minimuim amount i call a friend to see if they need anything...
for the about last ten years i have been getting my orders sent to alaska by AML (alaska marine lines), azure drops it off at seatlle aml and then it is shipped up to petersburg on the barge... one thing to note is AML charges for each category dry, chill and freezer; with minium charge... so i usually have the chill set with the dry and only do freezer every once in a while. currently dry is bout for 350 pounds(& about.11 every pound over) and the minuim freezer charge for aml to here is about for 150 pounds... so even if the freezer order is one pound to 150 you are charge about , hence i get the pound up.. if it is over 150 pounds they charge about .28cent per pound...
when i place an order with friend; azure sends a separate order sheet with weight on it. so we have the orders shipped by aml together and divide the shipping rate according to the shipping percent... such as aml total 600 lb. cost about .. but on one person ordered 60lb hence they are charged 10% (60 /600)... 150lb would be 150/600=25%
x25%=that person only pays ...but most co-op
charge a fee like a 0 order will be charged 5% for handling ...ouch... soo bottom line i have done very well with out a co-op..

when we got our orders in north idaho we just meet the truck in a parking lot on their route.

currently we get produce dropped weekly by "FULL CIRCLE FARMS" They also have routes in the lower 48. for alaska they take it to alaska airlines and once in petersburg a party takes all the individual boxed orders (about 50) to a pick up spot( a local church gave us an area) and you just go in and get your order... some ppl do azure the same....
check out " FULL CIRCLE FARMS" They have organic produce for a great price and it is idems Azure does not carry....

I have bought from them too. But not much any more. I find that I herbs (online) is much cheaper on their supplements, lotions etc. than azure. They do not charge shipping with orders over 65. I was placing an order every two mo. or so with azures. I have seen their price go quite high. So, shop around. Even Win co foods has honey and bulk nuts cheaper. Win co will give % off is you buy the full bag.

Thanks Amy! I actually know there is a drop off point in Mt. Vernon, I just didn't realize you had to know all the details before ordering, makes sense :) I will have to call my friend who does an Azure order ever once in awhile. I think the base amount is actually around 0 now.

Thanks for the info!

About the kelp, I'm not sure. I found some chlorella powder on ebay I think I may go with that if I ever hear back from the person who is selling it! :)

i have been getting food from azure since the mid 80′s..
i usually order enough by myself every few months.. most co-op have a member charge and/or charge a percentage, so i do not use them, plus mixing my order with others took a lot of time to sort out. if my order is less then the minimuim amount i call a friend to see if they need anything…
for the about last ten years i have been getting my orders sent to alaska by AML (alaska marine lines), azure drops it off at seatlle aml and then it is shipped up to petersburg on the barge… one thing to note is AML charges for each category dry, chill and freezer; with minium charge… so i usually have the chill set with the dry and only do freezer every once in a while. currently dry is bout for 350 pounds(& about.11 every pound over) and the minuim freezer charge for aml to here is about for 150 pounds… so even if the freezer order is one pound to 150 you are charge about , hence i get the pound up.. if it is over 150 pounds they charge about .28cent per pound…
when i place an order with friend; azure sends a separate order sheet with weight on it. so we have the orders shipped by aml together and divide the shipping rate according to the shipping percent… such as aml total 600 lb. cost about .. but on one person ordered 60lb hence they are charged 10% (60 /600)… 150lb would be 150/600=25%
×25%=that person only pays …but most co-op
charge a fee like a 0 order will be charged 5% for handling …ouch… soo bottom line i have done very well with out a co-op..

when we got our orders in north idaho we just meet the truck in a parking lot on their route.

currently we get produce dropped weekly by “FULL CIRCLE FARMS” They also have routes in the lower 48. for alaska they take it to alaska airlines and once in petersburg a party takes all the individual boxed orders (about 50) to a pick up spot( a local church gave us an area) and you just go in and get your order… some ppl do azure the same….
check out ” FULL CIRCLE FARMS” They have organic produce for a great price and it is idems Azure does not carry….

Me!Me!Me! I know the answers!!!!! :o)
If you arent part of a co-op, and order less than $200 (you might want to double check that figure) you have to pay shipping. So, try and get some friends together (ordering more than $200 collectively), designate a drop off point along side the I-5 corridor (its sounds like you would be close enough) If you call them, they will walk you through the signing up process and give you a code to give all your friends, to make a drop point. Then it helps to have an extra fridge or freezer, or prompt friends. :o)
I am part of a co-op here, and the lady whos home is the drop off point also goes to Charlotte, perhaps something could be worked out.....?
In the good old days, before high gas prices, Azure was such a great saving. It really was amazing. There are still great deals to be had, and I have always been satisfied with the produce, ect. But like you said, sometimes Fred Meyer is a good option too.
I dont know about the Chlorella powder. Is it like Kelp powder? I have a bunch that your welcome too. I cant take it anymore......:o(
Hope that helps,
Amy

If you arent part of a co-op, and order less than $200 (you might want to double check that figure) you have to pay shipping. So, try and get some friends together (ordering more than $200 collectively), designate a drop off point along side the I-5 corridor (its sounds like you would be close enough) If you call them, they will walk you through the signing up process and give you a code to give all your friends, to make a drop point. Then it helps to have an extra fridge or freezer, or prompt friends. :o)
I am part of a co-op here, and the lady whos home is the drop off point also goes to Charlotte, perhaps something could be worked out…..?
In the good old days, before high gas prices, Azure was such a great saving. It really was amazing. There are still great deals to be had, and I have always been satisfied with the produce, ect. But like you said, sometimes Fred Meyer is a good option too.
I dont know about the Chlorella powder. Is it like Kelp powder? I have a bunch that your welcome too. I cant take it anymore……:o(
Hope that helps,
