This morning was one of those hard morning. Trying to figure out what to do with two busy boys who just want to go outside and play, so we tried that. I bundled them up and sent them out onto the front porch with their scooter and trike but shortly after they went out, they both wanted back in (but not before they came in and out several times, dragging mud and water in onto the floor). It wasn’t raining but the wind was just bitter cold. So we came back in. I was feeling anxious too, I had planned on going out this morning to do errands, but the wind was blowing too hard so Chris had to take the van to work (oh well). So I bundled the kids up once again, put Guenna in the ergo and zipped her up in my coat, I put two blankets on the boys and put them in the double stroller and we went for a (short) walk. I tried to prolong it as much as possible because the boys were doing fine but I think the cold wind on Guenna’s face was a bit much, she just isn’t used to that sharp stinging sensation on her face. It was good to get outside though and see the cows next door, they were fascinating! Well at least to my kids they were pretty exciting :) Anyway, I think the boys are praying for a few degrees of warmer weather or at least warmer wind or even no wind would be good :) Life’s rough isn’t it? I’m thankful for three healthy vivacious kids who need a little fresh air sometimes!

If you coat her face in vaseline before you go out the wind won’t chap & she might be a little happier or at least for longer. :) It’s a trick I learned in Europe, all the kids came to school with a THICK layer of petroleum jelly on their faces. Yuck. But it works. I know, my boy is itching to get outside too. It’s driving us both up the wall that it never quits raining.

Hmmm, sounds kind of funny but I guess it’s worth a try! I don’t think it was so much the chapping but the bitting cold, you know how your face feels kind of a sharp pain when the wind hits it? I was thinking about how she has never felt that kind of sensation before and it seemed to bother her. I wonder, does the petroleum jelly help it not feel so cold? Interesting!
