We got lucky

About five days ago we had a really nasty wind storm here in Northwest Washington that left about a million customers without power. We were some of the blessed ones who only had to endure life without power for less than a day, while other friends and family members are still without power five days later. One starts to realize how much one appreciates the small things in life, like a shower and clean laundry, and a flush toilet, and heat, when one goes without for so long! While we feel sorry for our friends, we are glad our power returned so quickly! We were without internet for several days but I’d give up the internet for a shower any day! ;) Hope you guys all get your power back soon!!!
We, too, were very lucky to not be without power more than about 24 hours.
And yes, I did not mind not having Internet when the alternative was not having power at all :)
Lucky we only lost power for just under 2 days. On Friday we headed over to my sisters as they had a generator. But our power was back on by Saturday night.
Although schools around here will be out for the 3 days preceding winter break. Carol is enjoying the extra time off but not looking forward to making up the days at the end of the year!

Wow, I’ve been waiting to hear from you guys, there’s been so much news about the damage up north. We were w/o power for 22 hours. We went to the in-laws for warmth & a shower. Then we ended up w/ people at our house. It feels so empty w/o them now. :) Just wish there was more we could do…
We finally got power back yesterday. It was hovering in the low 30’s in the house for four solid days! Man it was awesome to come home to a warm home, warm food, warm shower and warm wife yesterday. We’d been freezing!
The storms were pretty intense down in Oregon too. Here it’s cold and bright. I do like the cheeriness of the fairly constant sunny blue sky.

I’m glad to hear you weren’t without power for too long. I was wondering what was happening with you guys when you hadn’t updated the blog in so long, and then I realized it might be because you were out of power and got a little worried. Glad your power outage was less than a day.
