32 week ultrasound this morning…

We had our ultrasound this morning and we have good news! The placenta has moved up so I am not in risk anymore of needing a C-Section! Thank you Lord! The baby cooperated with us today so we were able to find out the gender :) We are so excited that we are having a little girl!!!! Can you believe it? I am still having a hard time believing it myself. I feel like I'm in a dream and having a hard time waking up, then when you finally wake up you realize that the really neat dream you just had was just a dream. But we weren't dreaming, we saw for ourselves and she was not modest about it this time :) So now we have to convince Aidan that this baby is NOT a boy but that they are going to have a little sister! He said, "yeah, a girl AND a boy!" He'll get it at some point but he has nothing to measure against, to him babies are boys! :) I've been thinking all morning about how I wont have to shave this little babies head when her hair gets too long, and I get to put her hair in pony-tails and dress her up in little dresses! Chris said on our way back to his work, "I feel like our family is more complete now!" Not that we plan on stopping here, why quit when you've got a good thing going right?! :) I've been thinking about how having a daughter will totally change the dynamic of family life for us, an exciting change that we are really looking forward to. Chris has been longing for a little daughter and I think that is why we are having one now :) That and because God decided that now is the time for us to have a girl! So to say the least, today our hearts are full! Now we can't wait to see what a little Burns baby girl will look like. Will she look like the boys or will she have her own look? Will she have curly hair or strait? Blue eyes or green or brown? Will she be little or chubby like Eamon? :) Can't wait to meet you daughter! We are going to have so much fun together!

    :-D

The kids whooped and hollered…we are so glad for you. We can’t wait to see her!

  3. Nana Joan says:

This is so awesome, how you immediately bond to reality! Either way would have been great, but now I want to run out and buy a dress!!!! (Baby Dress, that is!) Thank you LORD!!!

  4. Sabrina says:

Yipee!!! We are so excited for you!

  5. Jenni says:

Karen, our girls will only be a few weeks apart! It will be fun to watch them play together :)

Nana Joan, my thoughts exactly!!! If only I had some money to buy something! Isn’t it funny how when we hear exciting news we want to go out and spend money?!:)

  6. Yeay! It’s exciting as you get closer to your due date! I’m so happy for you guys and can’t wait to meet your little girl! :)

  7. nanajudi says:

Oh, I’m so excited!! I bought a sweet little pair of girl PJs the other day, they’re 18 month size so I thought, “If Jen is not having a girl, I can send them to Lily.” But I will get to SEE this baby wear them!!!! I haven’t told EVERYONE at St Joes that we’re having a girl, but I got a good start!!

  8. Ari says:

Yea! I’m so excited for you! This is going to be one adored little sister. She’ll have two great big brothers who are going to look out for her! Can’t wait to meet her!

  9. Ted says:

    Congratulations to both of you!

  10. Amy says:

Hooray!!!!!!!!!! Bring on the pink! Its so so fun!

I just cant imagine life without my girlies. It would certianly be incomplete. Mothering daughters has been healing balm to me. It challenges me daily and rewards me deeply. To think of 5 daughters, so far, modeling their homes, their families and ultimately their walk with the savior, after what I have lived out before them and equipped them to do, is a high calling indeed. You are blessed!

  11. …I always wanted a big brother.

  12. Amy says:

P.S. did they tell you how much the baby weighs? I had a US at 29 wks and my lil one was 3lbs 4 oz. My last baby, Gwenna, was 10lbs4oz at birth. The birth was great, regardless, but I am wondering if I am warming up for another Michelin baby.
You were measuring small in the beginning, has that changed??
    Any names????
    Congrats again!

  13. Roberta says:

    Cograts Chris and Jenni~
How wonderful to have a little pink princess. I am very excited for you.
p.s. I FINALLY posted Noah’s birth story (am having trouble uploading pictures though, will keep trying.)

  14. Jenni says:

Amy, they didn’t say how much the baby weighs (I forgot to ask) but they did say that I am still measuring about 6 days small which would make their due date for me March 16 instead of March 10. I think I will just go ahead and keep my old due date (unless it was the other way around!) and plan for a late baby.

Roberta, I saw your birth story but just going back now to finish it :) I love reading birth stories! I will have to call you sometime soon and help you with the picture thing, or you can call me. We use flickr.com and think they are wonderful! I can help through email as well. I’m anxious to see pictures of that baby!

  15. Karen says:

You evaded the NAME question, Jenni!!

    :-)

(BTW, Keilah had tears in her eyes when I read to her what you said about our girls being born close and playing together…so sweet!)

  16. Jenni says:

Oh, yes I did evade the name question :) Sorry, I meant to say that we are keeping the name a secret! We have a name picked out that we finally get to use after 3 years! :)

You’re girls are so sweet :) Well, it looks like you are going to have to have another one, can’t let that little Abigail grow up without a little princess friend! :)

  17. Jenni says:

Karen, I am laughing at myself! You’re last comment caught me way off gaurd, I thought you were saying that I had written about them(your daughters)playing together. And since I think it is wonderfully awesome how well your daughter get along (and my sister and I did not at their age), I thought that I must have mentioned at some point something about how I think it is wonderful that your daughters play so well together :) Hence the comment about you needing to have another girl. Are you following me? Well, I’m not quite following myself but since I posted the comment I thought you should join in the laughter with me as I expose my brainless moment for all to enjoy! Your girls are sweet, and I do so look forward to our little girls growing up together! :) Love you!

  18. kerri says:

Congrads. What fun. Girls are such fun to shop for! :)

  19. Nickie says:

Wow, congratulations! Girls are so different from boys. Bless you!

  20. John Cummins says:

    Great going. Another podcast hoster?

  21. April says:

Way to go, Jenni! As if you had anything to do with it. But, that is so exciting. While I would love three girls (I imagine them being so close when they are grown!), we are hoping for a boy, especially Toby, of course! We shall see when the baby is born. I want a surprise ending as it has been with all of our children. But I told Toby that next time we do this, we can do it his way and find out!

Lots of pink dresses will be bought on the west-side! Yippee!

  22. Amy Beth says:

Congrats! We’re so excited for you!

  23. mary hufferd says:

    Yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will there be a shower or shall I just start buying little girl clothes now. You know that I do not have any grandaughters so please call if there is anything I can do, hold baby, hold baby, hold baby, buy baby girl clothes, hold baby and so on.
We would love to have you bring the boys up to see our chickens and goats.
    Our new phone number is

God Bless and thanks for the good news

  24. emily says:

I can’t believe it! Congratulations you guys! What a lucky little girl she will be.

  25. Jenni says:

Thanks Mary! I’m not sure if someone is going to do a shower or not, I will let you know. We will always welcome baby girl clothes :) We recieved quite a few little girl clothes from a second cousin so we are not feeling like we wont have anything to dress the baby in, but it’s always nice to have a fresh start :)

  26. amelia says:

jenni, i dont know what its like to have boys, but i know that a girl is so much fun. I have heard that girls are way more fun to dress up than boys. Have fun.

  27. nanajudi says:

Wow, 26 comments so far! You have one welcome little girl there!!! That must be some sort of record!! I can hardly wait!!

  28. Auntie Sandee says:

  29. Rebekah says:
