My baby is 5 months old today!
Well, Eamon is 5 months old today :) He is so cute! He's growing and changing so much right now, becoming much more interactive with us and a lot more aware of his daddy which is really fun, especially for dad! Last night he did something that made me reallize that he is growing up. He still nurses a couple times in the night but usually stays asleep through the feeding and then I put him in bed and he goes right back to sleep. But this morning at his 5:00am feeding he woke up and was pretty awake when I laid him down. He took his binkie but wasn't laying his head down but I went to bed anyway because I have decided that I am now letting him cry and soothe himself instead of getting up 5 or 6 times just to put his binkie back in his mouth (the amazing thing is that he is learning to find it himself, smart kid!) I went back to bed and he was just fine although I would hear him talking a bit every once in awhile (just talking to himself in the dark:) then about a half hour after I laid him down he started crying, then pretty soon he was crying really hard. I am laying in bed telling myself, "you can do it Jenni, just let him cry. He will cry for a couple minutes then he will go back to sleep. What if there is something wrong? What if...?" So I got up and there he was, sideways in his bed and laying on his back! What a little stinker! So I turned him over, straitened him out and put the blanket back on his cold little body (he was warmly dressed but it's cold without a blanket). I got back in bed and not a minute after I got in bed he started crying again. This time I know he is on his tummy, he's got his binkie close and he is covered in his blanket so you're just going to have to cry this one out buddy! He did after several minutes of torture on my part and we slept wonderfully the rest of the morning. He actually slept until about 9:00am to my great delight and when I went in his "room" (his bed has now been moved to the front living room), he had flipped onto his back and was again sideways in bed and not under his blanket! Oh well, he survived but his hands were cold from sleeping without a blanket for four hours! My sweet little baby, I do love you so! You bring joy to my life and I enjoy getting up in the night to feed you even though I am sleepy, I love spending those precious moments with you! Bless you baby! Love your Mommy :)
